Monroe E. Trout

After almost 25 years as a senior executive for two large pharmaceutical companies, Monroe joined American Healthcare Systems in 1986. The company was deeply in debt at the time but was to be turned around to become a major healthcare conglomerate valued at more than $4 billion. Monroe retired as chairman at the end of 1994.

Monroe received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his MD from Penn Medical School, going on to serve in the U.S. Navy as a physician. He was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1992.
