Peter Preuss, MA '67

Peter Preuss was the founder and head of ISSCO, a San Diego-based company, until it was purchased by Computer Associates in 1986. He also founded and was the long-time director of the National Computer Graphics Association. He became President of the UC San Diego Alumni Association in 1995 and acted as liaison on the UC Regents board for a year. Soon after, Peter was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson to the 12-term UC Regent position. He and his wife Peggy are longtime Chancellor’s Associates. In 1985, they founded The Preuss Foundation, Inc., which specializes in fostering communication among scientists in the field of cancer. They also founded The Preuss School UC San Diego, a unique charter middle and high school for low-income scholars who strive to become the first in their families to graduate from college. With nearly 100% of graduates going on to higher education, the school was recognized as the best high school in the county by U.S. News & World Report. 

Peter received his bachelor’s degree from Technical University of Hanover and his master’s in mathematics from UC San Diego. He was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2010, serving on numerous advisory boards and councils.
