Pradeep K. Khosla is UC San Diego’s eighth Chancellor and Distinguished Professor. As Chancellor, he initiated and led UC San Diego’s first-ever Strategic Plan, and launched the public phase of the Campaign for UC San Diego to expand college access and affordability for underserved populations, initiate interdisciplinary research initiatives and strengthen university and community relationships.

Elected to the Board of Trustees in 2012, Khosla also serves on numerous San Diego regional advisory boards, including Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center, La Jolla Playhouse, the Cecil and Ida M. Green Foundation for Earth Sciences, and the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine. He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology – Kharagpur, and his MS and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering at Carnegie Mellon. In 2014, he received an honorary doctorate of science from the Indian Institute of Technology – Kharagpur.
