Nathan East '78

Nathan East is a Grammy-nominated bassist and founding member of contemporary jazz supergroup Fourplay. He is known for his musical collaborations with Eric Clapton, Quincy Jones, Anita Baker, George Harrison, BB King, Stevie Wonder, and Daft Punk. He received Britain’s prestigious Ivor Novello Award for co-writing the hit song “Easy Lover” with Phil Collins and Philip Bailey. In 2007, The United States Congress awarded him with a Congressional Record for his contribution to the worldwide music community.

Nathan received his bachelor’s degree in music from the University of California, San Diego. He was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2020, and serves on the International Leadership Committee for the Campaign for UC San Diego.
